Due to field availability on Tuesdays and Thursdays we have to cap participants at 50 each night. If we fill to capacity, you will be placed on our waitlist and will be notified via email if you get accepted into the program. You will not be charged until you get moved off the waitlist. If your weekday of choice is full, hopefully the second option will be available for you to register. As mentioned above, we want to improve on our training day options so therefore are now offering the two options for the two day program.

COACHING: Professional coaching provided during each session.

Professional Coaches supplied by our professional Legacy coaching staff

The entire program is overseen by Mark Dutton, FC Berna's Director of Legacy Development Program.

COVID-19 SAFETY INFORMATION:

The safety of our players, staff and families is of the utmost importance to us.

We followed federal, state, local and NJ Youth Soccer guidelines to bring a safe & fun environment to everyone.

Following guidelines apply to all FC Berna Program Members:

* Please bring your own soccer ball and water bottle, clearly labeled to each session.

* Parents must indicate on TeamSnap if the player is attending or not for each session.

* Complete the Health Questionnaire on TeamSnap for EVERY event the day of the event.

*  All Parents & Players please review and follow these FC Berna Parent and Player Return to Play Guidelines which contains additional information & guidance to be followed before, during and after each session.

Please reference our FC Berna Return to Play page for full details regarding our COVID-19 safety precautions.

UNIFORM KIT: Club provides a game jersey (shorts and socks are not provided). Players can wear any comfortable clothing. Soccer socks & shin guards are required. Sneakers or soccer cleats are fine. Soccer cleats not required but are the only type of cleats permitted.

PRACTICE / GAME READINESS:

PLAYERS: Dress in comfortable clothing - as denoted in Uniform Kit above. Bring something to drink (with player name on it) and of course a smile. In addition due to current regulations and to ensure player safety, all players must bring your own soccer ball to each session.  Goals, cones, nets, etc. will be provided by the trainer and club.

PARENTS: Come dressed in appropriate clothing based on the weather conditions. Outdoor folding chairs, blankets, etc. are recommended but please adhere to new social distancing parameters and wear masks when around others.  We typically encourage parents to chat with each other & encourage all players, but please refrain from "coaching" your child from the sidelines. Especially at this unique time we are asking parents either remain in their car during the session or if remaining at the park that they adhere to social distancing requirements and wear a face covering when around other the staff, players and other extended FC Berna family members. .

SCHEDULED UPDATE / WEATHER CANCELLATION:

Any schedule updates and / or cancellations will be conducted through TeamSnap and we will send out an email/alert to all registered players. Please be aware that we can and do practice and play in the rain as long as it isn't too heavy. We actively monitor weather and field conditions to ensure player safety.  Always assume that weekday and/or Saturday sessions are proceeding as scheduled unless cancellation not is explicitly communicated. So please reference TeamSnap & this site for can any cancellations - there is no need to contact Total Soccer Director or Administrator since this web site has the latest information.

TEAMSNAP INFORMATION:

To facilitate team scheduling, tracking player attendance, communication, etc. TeamSnap is leveraged for each of the age groups. Information on the how to subscribe for free to your child's TeamSnap page will be sent to you prior to the season.

Reminder - due to COVID-19 concerns, all parents must denote in TeamSnap if their child will or will NOT attend each session.

WEEKDAY vs SATURDAY OVERVIEW:

Weekday sessions are designed as practice days for players to work on individual skills, technique, footwork, ball handling, scoring, etc.

Saturday sessions are designed for players to apply learned skills within a game like situation.

SOCCER SKILLS

As with any sport, the more you practice the better you become.  So players are encouraged to continue practicing at home. Our website includes videos for 70+ different soccer skills (see "Information" tab for link) that you can practice in your free time.

SOCCER BALL SIZE

Soccer Ball Size Recommendations:

Size 3 (Junior) 7 and younger

Size 4 (Youth) Ages 8 – 12

Size 5 (Adult) Ages 13+

QUALIFICATION: All levels are welcomed.

BIRTH YEAR / GROUPS:

As denoted by the grid above - to ensure fair play and enjoyable playing environment, in addition to following the US Youth Soccer Player Development guidelines; we try as best we can to group kids together by birth year. Due to registration numbers - some age groups will practice & play together, but coaches do remain focused on ensuring a fun & safe environment for all players - regardless of size or age.

In order to meet this objective - we strongly recommend that players participate with their defined age groups and gender.

2016/2017 Sessions: The program for our youngest members is only available as a one day program, offered on Saturdays only.

Based on our decades of experience and US Youth Soccer recommendations; one day is the recommended amount of soccer training for these young age groups.

FIRST TIME SOCCER PARENTS?

We recommend you read this wonderful article on US Youth Soccer.

It will give you a good introduction as to what to expect as a new soccer parent - on and off the field.

In addition offers good very good training material for all soccer / youth sports parents:
