Operation Gold Ribbon Socks

September is childhood cancer awareness month and Legacy will be launching a month-long initiative to raise funds to help fight childhood cancer. Each year nearly 16,000 case of cancer will be diagnosed in children across America and cancer represents number one cause of death due to disease in children. The international symbol for pediatric cancer is the gold ribbon. Over the next week your Legacy coaches will distribute to your teams socks with gold ribbons and will give instructions as to when to wear them. We are encouraging voluntary donations of $20 per player. You can give your contribution to your coach in cash or in check written to FC Berna. The net proceeds will be donated by FC Berna to childhood cancer philanthropy efforts in our community. Below are several links to information about preventing and dealing with childhood cancer from the World Health Organization and the National Cancer Institute. Thank you very much for your effort to support this important initiative.http://www.who.int/cancer/prevention/children/en/ ), ( http://www.who.int/cancer/prevention/en/ ), (https://www.cancer.gov/types/childhood-cancers )
